Large folio (9″ x 14″), [2], i-xii*, [1], xiii-lxvi, 284pp, [2]. Rebacked in quarter brown morocco, original oak boards, title in gilt on spine with raised bands and five compartments. Professionally reinforced hinges with cloth. Original pigskin leather spine laid-in. Brass anchor and chain clasps along fore edge of boards. Uncut edges. Frontispiece with Columbus coat of arms. Clean text throughout. An attractive example.

The author of this work, Benjamin Franklin Stevens (1833 – 1902) was a noted bibliographer and a US dispatch agent in London. A facsimile of this book was published in Mexico in 1992.
