This first novel by Thomas Savage (1915-2003) is set along the Montana-Idaho border, an exploration of Western ranching that would become a theme in many of the author’s works. He would follow The Pass with acclaimed novels such as The Power of the Dog and The Sheep Queen. This scarce first edition can only be found in a handful of institutions, with no record of copies in the dust jacket appearing on the market.
