Quarto, [four volumes]. All volumes finely bound in three-quarter brown morocco with marbled paper boards. Title in gilt on spine, five decorative bands on each volume. Marbled endpapers and edges. No additional printings listed on copyright page. Ex-library with usual markings and stamp card holder affixed to rear endpapers. All volumes with double frontispieces, complete with over 600 illustrations. Volume two with date “1878” printed on title page. Solid text blocks, general wear to edges and corners, small marks to spines. A set scarcely seen complete.
