Oblong octavo. Illustrated paper covers. Complete with 12 interior sheets, each with four chromolithographed maps. Coffee advertisement at end of text. Bound with original string looped through two holes punched along side of text block. Solid, with faint creases along string binding. A vibrant collection of maps and illustrations.
In the 1880s, the Arbuckle Bros. Coffee Company introduced advertising “trade cards” for customers to collect with packages of their coffee. The cards depicted various topics including animals, sports, maps, and cooking. Due to high demand, these card sets were also available as a mail-order premium which reproduced the cards in album format. This piece is an album of the trade cards from the popular U.S. states collection.
