Folio, publisher’s brown cloth over modern brown calf, title stamped in gilt on spine. New endpapers, solid text block. Three small archival repairs along foredge of plates, no impact to maps. Complete with the “Index Map” of the city and 35 individual plates, all with hand-colored embellishments. An attractive and scarce early study of the City of Buffalo.
This work by Hopkins is the first to show footprints of buildings throughout the city of Buffalo. Only found in 8 public institutions and one public sale. This work was produced by G.M. Hopkins and Company in 1872, 1884, and 1891.
