Robert Naunton (1563-1635) was a member of the House of Commons and historian of the reign of Queen Elizabeth. This account of the life of Queen Elizabeth was still in manuscript form when he died in 1635. It was first published in 1641 and again in 1642, with the title Fragmenta Regalia, or Observations on the late Queen Elizabeth, her Times and Favorites. Naunton’s manuscripts and letters remain in the British Museum, and subsequent revisions of this work have appeared, most recently in 1985, prepared by J.S. Cerovski.
