Octavo, xi, [1], 154pp. Brown cloth, title in gilt on spine and front cover. All edges gilt. Solid text block, small marks and stains to covers, light wear to edges, finger marks to some leaves. Previous ownership bookplates affixed to front endpapers. With frontispiece and tissue guard. Not in Nevins. (Dornbusch I: 537) A scarce work.

Henry Cribben was an iron worker by trade, who joined the 140th New York Volunteers in 1862, participating in the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. From the Military History Collection of John Langton, with his bookplate. Also includes the bookplate of Peter Cozzens, a retired Foreign Service Officer and an award-winning Civil War and American Indian War historian.
