Cyrus Vance (1917-2002) served as the Secretary of State for President Jimmy Carter from 1977-1980. He previously served as Secretary of the Army during the Kennedy Administration, then Deputy Secretary of Defense in the Johnson Administration. He is the father of New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr.
