Inscribed by Oliver Wendell Holmes, first edition of Over the Teacups, published in 1891.
Octavo, [2], 319pp, [3]. Olive green cloth, title in gilt on spine and front cover, gilt floral border on front cover, floral border stamped in blind on rear cover. Top edge gilt, light rubbing to spine tips and corners. This is the second state printing, with Over the Teacups priced at $1.50 in the advertisement opposite the title page. Binding “variant A.” Housed in a green cloth chemise within a custom quarter morocco slipcase with green cloth boards, title in gilt on spine, decorative raised bands, sunning to spine. (Ives 196) (BAL 9027). Inscribed on the front flyleaf: “Oliver Wendell Holmes for Miss Emma Hitt Harris – Boston. October 9th, 1891.”
