Description
Original typescript speech by Jimmy Carter during the 1976 presidential campaign, attacking the policies of the Ford Administration. Includes handwritten corrections by Carter.
This speech is dated May 14th, [1976], one day after Carter addressed the United Nations, where he outlined his policy to slow nuclear proliferation. Some general toning, previous staple mark along top edge. This draft includes notes to future Secretary of State Brzezinski, and a reference to missing servicemen in Vietnam.
This speech is a strong indictment of the Ford Administration and their trouble with Governor Ronald Reagan: “There is not one good reason in the world that Governor Reagan should hold veto over United States foreign policy. In so far as he does, we are faced with a shameful and dangerous situation. The world is not going to suspend operations until our political season is past.”
