Ariel De Guzman was assigned by the United States Navy to Vice President George H.W. Bush in 1981, helping with food preparation at the Naval Observatory. When Bush moved to the White House in 1989, Ariel accompanied the family and stayed with them until the 1992 election. When De Guzman retired from the Navy in 1995, he began working for the Bush family, traveling between their residences in Houston and Kennebunkport as personal chef and house manager.
