The Log Cabin was published by Horace Greeley from May 1840 to November 1841. The purpose of the newspaper was to back the presidential campaign of William Henry Harrison, but by the end of the campaign, the circulation had risen to 80,000. This success inspired Greeley to establish the New York Tribune.
