Eleanor Wilson McAdoo (1889-1967) was the youngest daughter of President Woodrow Wilson and his first wife, Ellen Louise Axson. She married William Gibbs McAdoo, Wilson’s Secretary of the Treasury at a White House ceremony in 1914. Due to the age difference, the Wilson family did not approve of the marriage. Wilson and McAdoo both sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1920, but lost to Ohio Governor James M. Cox.
