The author of this work, Oberst Polte, was a German fighter pilot during World War I and test pilot after the war. He few experimental aircraft around Europe, expanding the Lufthansa Air Network before the outbreak of World War II. Polte personally few test aircraft from Hermann Goering in 1933-1934, helping to build out the military prowess of the German air defenses.
