Anna Louise Strong (1885-1970) was an American author and activist, known her for support of communist movements in the Soviet Union and China. She was one of the only westerners to “gain the admiration of Mao Tse-tung,” and spent her final years in China covering the communist administration. During her career she wrote over 30 books and wrote articles for The Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s and The Nation. She died in China in 1970.
